Does the C-90A electronic
air cleaner produce any ozone?
As with any electric appliance, the Friedrich Electronic Air cleaner does
produce small amounts of ozone. During standardized industry testing at a
Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL), the highest ozone level
measured was .014 parts per million (PPM). By comparison, the maximum
allowable indoor concentration recommended by the FDA (Food and
Drug Administration), ASHRAE (American Society of Heating,
Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) and UL is .050 PPM.
Under normal conditions, ozone is very reactive to most surfaces and will
convert rapidly to oxygen.
